Description
Wheat Bran is produced during the milling process when the outer shell of the wheat grain is separated from the flour. It is a flaky, palatable, and highly absorbent ingredient that is prized for its “bulking” properties. Because it can hold large amounts of water, it is the primary choice for creating hydrated mashes that help keep animals hydrated and their digestive tracts moving.
Commonly referred to as a “laxative feed,” it is often used for horses and cattle during periods of inactivity, following a taxing event, or for gestating females near calving or foaling. Beyond its digestive benefits, Wheat Bran is a rich source of Phosphorus and B-vitamins. Its light, airy texture makes it an excellent “carrier” for liquid supplements or powdered medications that animals might otherwise pick around.
